About Railway ALP

Railway Recruitment Board has released the recruitment notification for the posts of Assistant Loco Pilot & Technicians. Only single online application (common to all the notified posts- ALP & Technicians) has to be submitted by the candidate through the link provided in this post. Those awaiting results of the final examination for the prescribed qualification are not eligible and hence should not apply.

Assistant Loco Pilot & Technicians Pay Scale:

 

Level 02 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix with initial pay of Rs.19900/- plus other allowances as admissible. 

Educational Qualification:

Name Of Post Qualification
Loco Pilot (ALP) 10th/12th standard + ITI in the relevant trade or 10th/12th standard + Diploma in the relevant trade or 10th/12th + Degree In Engineering
Technicians 10th/12th + ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade.

 

Some Important Points:

  • Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline(which includes Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering , Mechanical Engineering ,Automobile  Engineering with the combination of various streams in the respective Engineering Traits is acceptable for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot).
  • Candidates passed out with Physics and Maths in intermediate(12th Standard) are eligible for Technician Grade III Signal and Technician Grade III Telecommunication posts namely Post 70 and Post 71 respectively.
  • It has been notified that for the post of Technicians, Diploma/Degree in Engineering will not be accepted in place of course completed Act Apprentice/ITI unless it is specified otherwise. Following the same, Graduate Act Apprentice will not be accepted in place of Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA)

Age Limit:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years

 

The maximum age relaxation:

  • OBC – by 3 years & SC/ST – by 5 years

 

Application Fees:

  • UR & OBC:  500/-
  • SC / ST / Ex-Serviceman / PWDs / Female / Transgender / Minorities / Economically backward class :  250/-

The Board has now declared that the application fee of Rs. 400/- will be refunded for Unreserved Candidates appearing for Railway Recruitment Exam and the complete exam fee of Rs. 250/- will be refunded for candidates belonging to reserved category.


Selection process:

For the post of ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot):-

  • First stage CBT
  • Second Stage CBT)
  • Computer Based Aptitude Test (AT).
  • Document Verification and Empanelling of Candidates

For the post of Technician:

  • First stage CBT
  • Second Stage CBT)
  • Document Verification and Empanelling of Candidates

Note: Marks will be normalized in all the stages of exam.

 

Exam Pattern Of RRB:

First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT):

This exam will be of qualifying in nature. But Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories are:
UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%.

  • It will consist of multiple-choice objective type questions [bilingual (Hindi/English)]

  • Total number of candidates to be shortlisted for second stage shall be 15 timesthe community wise total vacancy of ALP and Technician Posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in First Stage CBT.

 

Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT):

Part A

Part B

This part is qualifying in nature

  • Qualifying Mark: 35 % (This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible).
  • This part is qualifying in nature and shall have questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET).

 

Computer Based Aptitude Test (Only for candidates who have opted for ALP)

  • The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marksin each of the test batteries to qualify. This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible.
  • There shall be no negative marking in Computer Based AT.
  • The ALPmerit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% weight age for the marks obtained in the Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weight age for the marks obtained in Computer Based AT.

 

Document Verification and Empanelling of Candidates

 

For Technician posts:-

  • Based on the performance of candidates in Part A of the Second Stage CBT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT.

For ALP:-

 

  • Based on the performance of candidates in both Part A of the Second Stage CBT and Computer Based AT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT.
